1983: Victory Bible Church is birthed under the leadership and vision of Pastor James Edward Henry. Its first service was held at the Pasadena Civic Center on April 10th with 200 in attendance.

1984: Victory finds its first temporary home at Long Fellow Elementary School to hold service, while starting a weekly bible study at the Family Savings Building with 50 adults in attendance. “Back To School Night” is started based on a request to pray over returning students. Forty children attend.

1985-1988: Victory launches an [AM] radio ministry on KPPC in Pasadena with a local listening audience in Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley.

1994: Victory Bible Church, through a move of God, purchases the Hill Street property, the current home of VBC.

1995: Victory Bible Church joins the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. Pastor James E. Henry becomes State Overseer for the Southern California area.

1996: State Overseer James E. Henry is consecrated to the office of Bishop and appointed Regional Bishop of the Western Pacific Region of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.

1998: September 6th, Victory’s founder and visionary Bishop James E. Henry went home to be with the Lord. For the next 15 months, Victory will be cared for by two assistant pastors, Pastor Dorothy Scott and Pastor Terrell Snead.

2000: God brings to Victory Bishop Milton M. White, Senior to Victory Bible Full Gospel Baptist Church as Senior Pastor.


Ministry Accomplishments from 2000 – Present

1. Over 9000 meals have been served to the homeless via Union Rescue Mission

2. Weekly Bible Study experiences an 80% growth rate through the FEN (Family Enrichment Night) concept.

3. Back to School night, also known as Hill Street Hype grows from 40 youth receiving prayer to over 250 youth covered in prayer and provided with school supplies needed for the school year.

4. Victory grows from one service ministering to 200 people, to three services ministering to over 850 people per week.

5. From a local [AM] broadcast, Victory ministers to thousands via Victorious Living television ministry on the TCT network, touching the lives of 125 million homes in the U.S. Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, India and the Philippines.

6. Victory’s Mission Field is expanded from Taiwan to include Japan, Haiti, Cambodia and India.

7. With Pasadena being comprised of 48% male and 51% female*, Victory Bible Church offers engaging and life building ministry specific to the needs of each group. Serving over 100 people combined monthly.

8. Community leaders, teachers, engineers, pastors and many others have been recipients of hope provided through the James Edward Henry Scholarship Award. Funding education and planting seed of promise to those pursuing academic excellence.

9. Leadership development is offered to our Victory Family and leaders in the local community through the annual Impact Conferences.

10. Children and Youth Ministry’s PASS-CEED curriculum ministers to 1500 children and exposes them to arts, music, drama, life skills, money management, character development and self- esteem programs.

11. Vision-Five, a self-development program that focuses on five areas of personal development: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and financial changes the lives of over 100 members.
